Munich Center for Neurosciences

Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München

Our rapidly growing and increasingly detailed knowlegehirne of the different areas of life sciences, combined with our progress in experimental methods, present a so far unknown perspective for addressing brain function and the basis of cognition at a systemic or organismic level.
However, these questions have reached such a level of complexity that traditional biological methods alone fail to provide a real perspective for valid answers. A close collaboration between experimental and theoretical approaches has become essential in modern biology, and promotes mathematical validations of biological explanations for experimental results on the one hand, as well as the experimental confirmation of theoretical concepts on the other hand.
Thus the ultimate goal of the ?Munich Center for Neurosciences ? Brain and Mind? is to create a network bringing together all groups and disciplines with interests related to questions of neurobiology, cognition, and ?brain and mind?.
